Ombro Cinema, a very effective optical toy giving the illusion of movement, published in France around 1910.
A clockwork music box mechanism pulls the panorama accross the stage behind a celluloid screen with black lines, the rolls have scene where the various characters have their moving parts printed in 2 position and in stripes which means that only one position can be seen at the time through the screen thus creating the movement!
The box contains 1 panorama in colour, Puss in Boot. The box and the film bear labels from the very famous Paris toy shop Au Nain Bleu.
Excellent condition, original and working, the box is 46 cm x 33 cm x 8 cm or about 18" x 13" x 3 1/8"
